Basic Patrolling Awards
This course is for new members aged 15+ years looking to join the club. The Bronze Medallion provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to participate in Surf Life Saving patrol operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia.
This course is for junior members aged 13-14 years. The SRC course provides participants with skills and knowledge of surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations and resuscitation to participate in lifesaving operations and act as Water Safety Personnel.
Advanced Awards
This advanced course equips Bronze Medallion members with the ability to manage life-threatening external bleeding, use airway management devices and leadership skills during resuscitation, and administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious victims. On patrol ART members support the team during critical medical and trauma situations.
This advanced course equips Bronze Medallion members with the skills and knowledge required to confidently manage a beach and a patrol as a Surf Life Saving Patrol Captain.
This advanced course equips Bronze Medallion members with the skills and knowledge to participate in search and rescue operations.
This award, which is assessment only, provides lifesavers who hold a Bronze and Silver level award with a benchmark of fitness and endurance that meets the minimum requirements for work in the professional lifeguard industry.
Powercraft Awards
This course provides Bronze Medallion members with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat in surf rescue operations.
This course provides IRB Crew members with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.
Rescue Watercraft (RWC) operators in the Jet Ski Program provide an additional resource for clubs to deliver effective lifesaving patrols, as well as provide support to external agencies.
Specialist Equipment
This course equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate the club All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) / SSV. Completion of this course is a mandatory requirement to operate the Club ATV.
This program equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to confidently patrol as a SLSWA Drone Operator. Drone operators must also hold a patrolling award.
Parents, Teachers & Community Awards
This standalone award provides participants with skills and knowledge of aquatic safety, rescue and survival skill techniques for supervising students participating in activities both in and around various aquatic environments. This award does not allow you to participate in Surf Life Saving patrol operations.
This standalone award enables parent members to assist with SLS Nipper Activities by building confidence in basic water safety and rescue skills.
This nationally recognised course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills needed to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support.
Education
Training officers inspire and educate other surf lifesavers by conducting entry-level and up-skilling training courses and SLSA awards.
Assessors ensure new award candidates meet the expected standard and deliver skills maintenance checks to keep members awards and skills current.

Nipper Rescue Certificate (NRC)
This standalone award enables parent members to assist with SLS Nipper Activities by building confidence in basic water safety and rescue skills.
