Our Programs

  • Woodside Nippers Program

Our youngest members fill the beach with colour and energy on Sunday mornings over our 18 week Woodside Nippers Program. This program builds confidence and skills on the beach and in the water in a staged manner as Nippers progress through the age groups, developing the next generation of competent patrolling members.

Our Nipper program runs from October to March each season, and instills in participants values of excellence, mateship, good health, service and involvement, all whilst having fun.

  • Sea Lions

Our Award Winning Sea Lions program provides surf safety skills to youth who have cognitive or physical impairment or disability.

Program leaders come from a range of vocational backgrounds including paediatric health professionals, nurses, teachers and l lifeguards. We work closely with participants, parents and carers over the 8 week course to provide a fun and safe environment where learning, relationship building and a sense of belonging can be achieved.

  • NCSLSC Cadets

The NCSLSC Cadets program is designed to engage, enthuse, and educate all graduating ‘Woodside Nippers’, and new youth members across the pillars of surf life saving being lifesaving; surf sports; education and training.

Our U14 to U17 youth members are provided with opportunities to learn and develop new skills to become not only better surf lifesavers, but also contributors to their local communities. This program is run by dedicated volunteers, including previous participants who want to support our youth.

  • Christ Church Cadets

  • SJA x SLS Beach Exercise

North Cottesloe SLSC and St John WA - EHS Western Suburbs Division team up to train lifesavers from all skill and confidence levels across different emergency scenarios.

This program was ran in 2022, and again in 2025 with great success, turning a notoriously quiet stretch of sand into a dynamic training ground filled with simulated emergencies, teamwork, and real-time learning.

This joint exercise not only strengthens the practical skills of our members but also builds strong connections between surf lifesaving and emergency health services—ensuring we are better prepared to respond when real incidents occur.

  • North West Community Surf Rescue Trip

Every year, club member Trevor Gibb continues to deliver an incredible service to the communities of Kalbarri, Shark Bay, Carnarvon, Exmouth, and Coral Bay.

Driving over 4000 kilometres to provide vital community SRC training and requalification to teachers and the public – Trevor’s volunteering has helped build safer aquatic communities.
