AGM Wrap Up

Thank you to the 50 club members that came along to the AGM last Sunday. The meeting ran very smoothly and the Annual Report was very well received.

Copies of the Annual Report are available in the gym foyer or can be downloaded from our website - click here.

Congratulations to the following members who were elected to the Board of Management for the coming season:

President – Craig Smith-Gander
Treasurer – Keith Johns
Club Captain – John Polinelli
Chair of Assets – Brett Endersby
Chair of Governance & Strategy – Renato Bruno
Chair of Juniors – David Andrew
Chair of Education – Mike Carter
Chair of Lifesaving – David Walser
Chair of Surf Sports – Liz Lang
Chair of Club Services – Linda Gladwell

Membership renewals

All members should now have received their renewal notice in the mail with instructions on how to renew and pay for their memberships using the on-line system.

We are already receiving many payments from people who have not yet renewed their membership details. Unfortunately it is a Surf Life Saving Australian requirement that every single member renews their membership and accepts the terms and conditions of membership each season. We realise it is an inconvenience but we have no choice in this matter as it is an insurance requirement.

If you need a reminder on how to complete the renewal process click here to view the instructions.

If you are having trouble with the online system please contact Dani Trott – office@ncslsc.com or 9284 2626 and she will be very happy to assist you :)

State Board Riding Championships

The SLSWA Board Riding Championships will take place at Secret Harbour this Saturday the 31st July 2010.

Make sure you get down and there and show your support and good luck to our competitors.

Go North Cott!!

Help needed to service the Rhino - Sunday 1st August

If you or your kids are involved in Nippers, Cadets or IRB, then you know your life has been made easier by the Rhino that we have lugging our gear up and down the beach, so the time has come to show your appreciation.

The Rhino is looking a bit tired and needs some TLC.  We need some volunteer helpers to come down to the Club on Sunday 1st of August at 8am to take apart, clean up, paint, then re-assemble the Rhino.

Many hands make light work, we should be done by 12. If you could bring tools and cordless drills or angle grinders (with wire brushes), it will make our lives a lot easier too!

We'll put on a sausage sizzle on completion of the job to replenish our energy levels!

Any inquiries to Dave Kordic  davidkordic@hotmail.com

Save the Dates!!

This Spring, instead of drinking wine in the valley, why not come down and taste beers by the beach?

Club sponsor Gage Roads, has some exciting new and rebranded products to share with you and would love you to join them for a series of tastings/celebrations! More details will come in next week’s newsletter but in the meantime put these dates in your diary:

Saturday 21st August 2pm – 5pm
Friday 17th September 6pm
Friday 15th October 6pm

We look forward to seeing you there!

IRB Crew & IRB Driver Courses

We have two opportunities to get involved in the IRB Section at the Club.  The first one is for people wishing to join the world of IRB's and attain their IRB Crew Certificate.  The other is for people wishing to attain their IRB Driver (Silver Medallion) Certificate.  Both courses will be held in mid September with dates to be confirmed.

Prerequisites for IRB Crew Certificate are that you must be 15 years old and hold your Bronze Medallion.

Prerequisites for IRB Driver (Silver Medallion) Course are that you must be 17 years old , hold your Bronze Medallion and your IRB Crew certificate.

If you are interested either of the above courses, please email Kymmie kym@ncslsc.com to register your interest asap.

ARTC Course (the new ARC)

This is a call for expressions of interest for people interested in gaining their ARTC (Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate) higher award.

ARTC is a new award that SLSA have introduced to upgrade the ARC award. The ARTC incorporates all components of the ARC award and introduces oxygen airbag, defibrillation and the use of suction.

Should you already hold your ARC, you will need to requal it this year. In the requal you will be taught the defib and suction components and your award will then automatically be upgraded to ARTC by 31 December 2010.

An ARTC Course will consist of three 2hr sessions and the fourth session will be an exam. Below are scheduled dates:

Monday 23rd August - 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Wednesday 25th August - 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Monday 30th August - 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Wednesday 1st September - Exam - 6.30pm

Prerequisite for ARTC is Bronze Medallion.

If you are interested in the course please email Kymmie kym@ncslsc.com  by Friday 30th July to register your interest.

Dry July Countdown

Only four days to go until the end of Dry July - a fundraising campaign where people go without a drink for the month of July to raise money for the Medical Oncology Department at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital.

AFL legend, Graham Moss, has taken on the Dry July challenge and is leading the Charlie's Angels Team. In an effort to raise as much money as possible, Graham has accepted a 'Head to Head' challenge with the 720 ABC Perth team, lead by radio personality James Lush. The leader of the losing team will complete a mini Ironman (swim, board and run) at the North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club in the early morning chill of Saturday 31 July at around 9am - no wetsuits allowed!

Unfortunately the Charlie's Angels team is currently behind the ABC Team so it looks like Graham is going in the drink (no pun intended). Please consider donating to Graham and the Charlie’s Angels Dry July team at: https://www.dryjuly.com/profiles/grahammoss
